For some reason, I waited until morning of Cooper's birthday party to pick up the cake. In retrospect, I should have planned to get it the day before since we were hosting an 11:30am party. Especially since when I went to get it, it was the wrong cake.
In their defense it did match the cupcakes we'd ordered, and they were correct.
But that was not the cake Cooper picked out. And it didn't even say "Happy Birthday". So I asked them to make the right one. They seemed put out about it, but it actually only took them about 15 minutes! ha. And we got to take both cakes.
I also had to grab balloons while I was out, then we all rushed over to set up the party.
We used Cooper's halloween costume as decor. :)
We got a few balloons stuck around and the name tags set out.
Set up a table with robot masks to color.
Then party goers started showing up! So we started up a game of knock out.
The pizza arrived shortly, so then it was time to feed everyone.
I know kids eat a lot of pizza, but I still over ordered. We had quite a bit leftover! Always better to have too much rather than the opposite though.
After they ate, we played a game where the teams built a robot out of one of their teammates.
I gave each team some foil pans, tin foil, tape...
And stickers for buttons.
Then set a timer and let them go.
Miles was thrilled to be his team's robot!
So was Cooper. ha.
We didn't actually declare a winner.
But all the teams did a great job!
I numbered the kids off to split the teams, but I'm not sure they went according to their numbers, since most of the girls ended up on the same team!
Next, it was time to light the candles. Or let Owen blow the lighter out a few times first.
After a quick photo op with the birthday boy and his (correct) cake...
We lit the candles and sang to him!
Then served the cake! Or cupcake.
Or for some.... BOTH!
Then we had time for one last game with balloons.
And open gifts.
Cooper's friends were so thoughtful and generous. All of the gifts showed that his friends know his interests. They also wrote such nice notes, even some on handmade cards. It was sweet. :)
Some of the kids finished up coloring masks while waiting for parents to pick them up.
I was also trying to give away cake as people left! We didn't make much of a dent in all of it!
What a great time celebrating Cooper with his friends!!
And there were exactly three goodie bags left for us to take home and enjoy.
