You might remember that we have a friend, Jessica, whose parents live on a small lake. It's not "their" lake, but we still refer to it as "Schmied Lake". :) They invited us out to do a little fishing, and as you can imagine, I had three excited boys when it was time to go! Fishing poles and tackle boxes in hand, off they went.
The fishing started immediately. Owen mostly just walks around with his pole, but he calls it fishing.
Until Emma offered him a ride in the purple jeep. Fishing was easily put on hold for this...
Off they went to do some off roading.
Which gave me a little time to try to snag something with my pole.
I got one fish! A teeny, tiny little bass.
The guys headed out in the boat for a while.
And soon Emma and Owen were back to show off the treasures they'd collected.
Next they tried to catch minnows.
Which is Miles' preferred activity too!
The only fish he reeled in on a pole was the one that "Gramps" snagged and then handed Miles the rod!
Owen got one that way too. :)
It was a good one!
Owen was pretty proud of it and Gramps says it's the biggest sunfish that he's seen in this lake.
Cooper caught a couple too, one from the boat.
Derek caught on from the boat too... can you see it?? :)
After exploring the water's edge a little more with Emma...
Owen was ready to roast a marshmallow.
With much supervision, of course.
Then enjoy a s'more.
He needed cleaned up a bit as he ate it. STICKY.
Also: Notice I'm wearing my phone around my neck in a waterproof, floating case? Jess let me borrow it so that I didn't have a repeat of the great iPhone catastrophe of 2013. HA! Yes, this is the lake I left my phone in for a week.
Then my husband hero found it so that it could be replaced. He deserves a s'more for that every time we go... 😍
A nice night fishing with friends.
And no phones were harmed or lost in the process.
