On to the Ozarks!

Derek's cousin was getting married in Arkansas on July 8th.  So rather than go back home between Iowa and Arkansas, we planned a mini-filler-vacation at Roaring River State Park in Missouri.  So on the 5th, we hit the road South!

I somehow documented the very first (of many, I'm sure) time Owen rolled his eyes at me when I took his photo!! 😂

Derek was probably rolling his too, when I snapped a photo of him finishing off the OJ. :)

We ended up making some unexpected stops... one at a Walmart so Derek could get what he needed to charge the van AC.   We had a few grumpy moments, but things looked up after the air was blowing cold again! ha.  We were soon in the winding hills and curvy roads of the Ozarks.

Where there are also a lot of cows.

And Owen pointed out every.single.one.

We'd rushed quite a bit, once Derek giving us all a two minute timer for a bathroom break(😏), so that we could make it to Tim's Fly Shop before it closed...

Which was closed when we arrived.  Because apparently he's closed on Wednesdays and just doesn't mention it on his website.  haha.

So we played on the playground at the 'resort' we'd booked while Derek checked in.  We'd just have to double back to Walmart to buy our fishing licenses there, instead of from Tim, who is closed on Wednesdays.

With a little energy expended on the playground, we went to find our room.

Having just used up energy or not, kids always get super hyper excited about this sort of thing...

They bounced around and checked out the room.

Basically a hotel room, with a kitchenette.

A fun place to spend a couple nights!
