After we unloaded and settled into our room, we went to check out the Fish Hatchery and fishing areas. We walked up to the hatchery and the boys' eyes about bugged out! They got to it before I did and I as I came onto the scene Cooper was telling me how big the trout were!
Excitement and chaos ensued!
Derek had to point out the sign right in front of them...
Because they were positive they could just reach in a grab one or two!
They spent quite a while watching the trout and picking out which were brown trout or rainbow trout.
Which is pretty easy when the water is so nice and clear.
It was actually beautiful!
It's clear because it's spring fed. We walked up to the spring next.
Where we read that 20.4 MILLION gallons of water come out and into the river every day!
It was an amazing thing to see.
At a little terrifying at 224ft deep being just what has been explored. Owen didn't understand why we wouldn't let go of his hand! :)
A quick look at the river with fishing areas and these guys were excited for morning!
But business first, we had to go into town (Cassville, MO) to Walmart and buy fishing licenses. It worked out since we grabbed a few groceries for the next day too.
Then back out to the river, which was steaming at that hour in the evening.
We ran into the State Park's Store/Shop so we could buy trout tags, required daily for everyone that holds a pole. And they don't start selling them for the next day until 7:30pm on.the.dot. An hour before fishing ends for the day. So we had to wait a few minutes for selling time... Owen didn't mind, the gift shop had trains. And the big boys checked out all the fly fishing bait. By big boys I totally mean Derek. :)
Back to the resort and Coop & Miles talked us into letting them take a quick dip in the pool!
We still needed to eat dinner, so I didn't want to change and get in for just a few minutes, so Owen didn't get to either.
He did get to throw the diving toys in, so he was entertained!
