Here, Fishy, Fishy, Fishy

At the Roaring River State Park, fishing opens at 6:30am sharp.  (When the siren blows! Apparently people are standing at the water waiting to cast at that point!)  So it was an early wake up call.  But boys who love to go fishing don't mind jumping out of bed and getting dressed before 6am.

They were ready quickly!  Once at the water they took a look to see where the fish were.  The answer is everywhere!  The hatchery lets trout out into the river every evening, which means it's good and stocked in the morning!

And the fresh spring water makes it easy to see where they are.  And makes it a little frustrating when they look at your bait but decide not to take it. :)

Which is why I think Derek spent most of the morning changing bait to see what they were going to take.

Meanwhile, Owen and I had a relaxing morning of much needed down time.

Which included playing with the few toys he'd brought along.

And back at the river, the big boys were having some success!
Miles was the first to reel one in.  And he'd like me to mention that it was also the biggest! :)

Soon, Derek had one in too.

And Coop too!  Can you tell they were enjoying it!?

They came back around lunch time with their loot to show off.

After we ate some lunch quick, Owen and I went back to the river with them.

But we soon realized we'd forgotten Owen's trout tag in the room...
So Derek took him back with him to grab it.  At which point Owen climbed into his bed.

Also around the time I snagged my line in the rocks!  It's tricky fishing in a river with rocks!

Derek convinced Owen to delay his nap and try some fishing.

He didn't do a whole lot of it.  He did like watching his brothers though.

We spent most of the time he was by the water convincing him not to throw rocks in and scare the fish away!  (While Daddy fished with his pole!)

There was a playground at the spot we were fishing at, so Derek took a break with him for some play time.

Derek took a video because the slide was so fast that the first time he went down, Owen made a hilarious face!  Not as good the next time but still funny.

After a little more fishing, the afternoon heat hit, which means most people pack up and take an afternoon break.  We followed the group and decided we'd take Owen back for a nap and relax for a while.
