NAB

Derek spent his days at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the NAB Show.

He was given a pass for me to borrow and tag along one morning.

It was impossible to get a photo that showed how large the show was, since it took up three levels of the convention center and then some.  Between NAB, getting to and from, and walking in the evening, Derek easily logged ten miles by foot each day.

It was a bit overwhelming and helped me understand why Derek didn't feel like he covered it all in three whole days.

It was fun to watch him in action though.  He spent time checking out equipment.

The sets had hired actors on them so you could look at live people through the cameras.

There was a LOT of equipment on display!

And by "Equipment" I totally mean "Toys".  ðŸ˜Š

Everyone's best technology was on display.

Derek also had specific booths he wanted to check out and ask questions.

So I wandered around a little while he got questions answered.

I saw this green screen display, actually quite a few of them!

But most of the time we wandered together.

Occasionally stopping to take a look.

Or sitting in a on a seminar/demonstration.

There were fun things too, like this football throwing competition, where the overall high score won a GoPro camera.  We didn't win, but I did tie Derek's score!

Derek DID win a drawing though!  The vendors at each booth scan the QR code on your name tag when you stop to look, because then they automatically have all your information.  Some of them enter that info into a drawing for a prize...  Derek won a VR headset!

Some of the vendors asked you to post a selfie at their booth to be entered.  Derek just found out this week that he won a drone and camera for posting this one!  Winning in Vegas, without wasting money in the casinos! 😂

Also winning:  There were free cappuccinos and lattes.  That's my kind of prize!  Especially given my disgruntled coffee situation.

It was a really interesting morning, and I loved getting a first hand look at what Derek was up to all week.

At lunch time, we jumped back on the monorail.

We took photo (and video) of the monorail train for our little train-obsessed-almost-two-year-old. :)

Next we hit In-N-Out burger for lunch!

So look at that, a lunch date before parting ways for the afternoon.  Yay!

I guess I'll have to ask Derek if that was more fun than the day a vendor took him (and others) to lunch in a limo...   😉
