After we'd bandaged Miles' stitches and tucked him in bed, I woke up at 4am to the sound of someone throwing up. 😖 I nudged Derek and said, "Here we go!" ha. He had no idea what was happening and actually threw the covers completely off the bed in his hurry to get up and follow me out of our bedroom half awake! I looked into the boys room and no one was awake, so then we were running around looking at each boy, while I said, "Which one is it?". 😂 We discovered it was, in fact, Miles, who sleeps on the top bunk. Ugh. I'm not even sure why I said "Here we go!", except that the ER doctor had given instructions to watch for symptoms of a concussion, vomiting being one of them. While I cleaned up the big boys' room, we moved them both out to he living room. About the third time Miles threw up, he just stayed in the bathroom. 😢
Then once the vomiting stopped, he laid on the couch most of the day.
Or the floor, but Owen kept wanting to snuggle when he was there.
Or take over his space altogether.
They managed to find a way to co-habitate while watching movies.
Miles never had a headache or any symptoms of a concussion, so after a few conversations with our family doctor, we decided the poor guy most likely just had an ill-timed stomach bug. He held ice on his eye to help swelling, and his injury was looking pretty good.
We did slather Neosporin on it and kept it covered a lot to help it heal. We were supposed to host Life Group at our house that evening, but decided to cancel so we didn't spread a virus. That might have been more upsetting to my boys than being injured or sick. Ha.
By the next day, he was up helping with Saturday chores.
But... apparently it was a stomach bug. Since Miles shared it, that confirmed it wasn't a concussion, I suppose.
We tried to get ready for church Sunday morning, but no one could seem to stay off the toilet, and the one time there happened to be no one sitting on it, I found Miles with this head over it because he wasn't feeling well. (TMI? Sorry, it's life with kids.) So I got my responsibilities covered and church and we had church at home. (Derek had already gone to church to run audio)
By Wednesday, everyone was finally feeling well enough to go to AWANA. Which was good, because they would've been super disappointed to miss "Dress Like a Pirate" night!
And Miles thought his stitches were the perfect accessory for the get up!
Thursday was "Stitches Out" day!
It freaked him out a little, but we got the task accomplished. And went home with goodies. Miles has a knack for talking medical personnel out of stickers... he always acquires enough for himself and a few to share with his brothers.
