It was a typical Thursday evening... then Miles fell into the end table and ended up in the emergency room. I'm still not exactly sure what happened, I was in the kitchen, but the cry and then scream I heard from Cooper and Miles in the living room was the kind that tells you it's not your average bump. It wasn't, Miles split the skin above his eye open pretty good. I'll spare you the photos, because well... you're welcome. ha. Derek had just gotten home from a worship practice at church, the reason the boys got to stay up a little past bed time. But Derek ended up being the one to take Miles, already in pajamas, to the ER. Once there and settled in, he got a warmed blanket and a bear... and Derek actually got a smile out of him at that point.
I was hoping they'd just glue it like they did his chin a couple years ago. But after examining him, it was too deep and open to glue... stitches it is!
He wasn't very happy about that. At all.
But he was able to answer all their questions and tell them how he was feeling. Derek laughed as he told me about the nurse asking Miles how much he was hurting. Miles walked her down to the guy with the straight mouth... I think it surprised Derek that Miles understood and was able to know he wasn't dying, but he wasn't happy. 😂
It was a bit traumatic, since Miles was scared, but once it was all done... a smile!
And a bigger smile after they gave him an ice pack and a popsicle.
And still smiling when he finally got home and his Mama got to hug him.
We bandaged it all up and finally got to bed.
Derek had been up since 4:30am for his Thursday morning men's Bible study, so a late night ER visit after a long day wasn't super fun. But he still took photos.. because... he knows my love language. 😍

Not cute or funny...just sweet! Love that boy!
