Brrrrrr-ring

Around the holidays, I often let the boys drop some change in the Salvation Army buckets.

On this particular day, the bell ringer let the boys ring his bell after they put their money in. Even Owen got in on the fun.

And also on this particular day, when we got back to the van, it wouldn't start.  The temperatures were so cold that week, it was a common occurrence among acquaintances.  Thankfully, our errands had taken us to the Walmart only five minutes from Derek's office.  A quick phone call and he was came to our rescue in no time at all!

He pulled the battery out and decided to take it to the auto parts store that was across the parking lot.  The big boys wanted to go with him, but Owen and I opted for a warmer option and went back into Walmart to walk around.

Owen spotted the Home Alone DVD cover.  I still can't decide if it was chance or if he recognized it from watching on our "Christmas"!

It was not chance that he chose Goldfish when I let him pick a snack.  Also not chance that they put the Goldfish crackers on the bottom shelves. :)

Of course, there are a lot of pretty things on the bottom shelves...

Owen made a not pretty face when he had to hand over the Goldfish for the cashier to scan them. 😒

He cheered right up when he got them back, and even more so when I let him open them right away.  By then, Derek was back at the van... without a battery since it didn't test bad and they wanted to put it on the charger it and see if it would keep a charge.

But that takes at least 45 minutes, so we all loaded up in the Durango and slid across the ice covered parking lot...  to take Derek back to work.   It was.so.cold.

Then the rest of us finally went home.  Where Owen was happy to exchange his snow boots for slippers.

It was short lived before we had to put real shoes back on though.  Later we went back to get Derek from work, pick up the battery, put it in the van and follow Derek to a different auto parts store (that Derek prefers 😊).  We did end up buying a new battery...   and we've been good to go ever since!
