Getting Independence Day Going

We woke up on Independence Day and got ready for the day. Which included dressing Owen in the outfit G'ma Debbie brought for him!  He likes it. :)

So do I...   I really like dressing up (my kids) and being festive! :)

There are several Independence Day traditions that are so fun.  One of those is the guys driving tractors into town to line up for the parade.

Grandpa Gordie's antique tractor collection is kind of his pride and joy.
He loves this day to show off a few of the thirty some he owns!

Another tradition is omelets in town at the community building.

This might be one of my favorite parts of the day.  Mmmmm.

We saw G'ma Neva at breakfast, so she snuggled Owen.

It was Owen's first time to meet his Great G'pa Don and Great G'ma Neva.

 After breakfast was the parade...
Owen was pretty excited about his first parade. :)

Cooper found a good spot to collect candy.

And soon made friends with boys around him as they worked out a system of trading for things they liked and didn't like...  that way everyone got what they wanted!

We enjoyed watching the parade go by...  the Corn Kings is always a favorite.

But this year our favorite was our Van Gundy family float!
(We won first place in our category too!)

Miles chose to ride on the float and throw candy, he had a great time.
(And also saved back a few of Cooper's favorite candy to throw to him.)

"Our" line up of tractors followed the float.

And Daddy always throws a GOOD amount of candy our way!

So does G'pa Dale!

Owen, who doesn't appreciate candy yet, had a great nap during it all.

The boys showed Great G'ma their loot after the parade.

And used Aunt Mik's face paint to get even more festive.
