On the day that Owen turned two weeks old...
We strapped him into his car seat...
which he wasn't so happy about.
And loaded up in the car for Owen's first road trip!
Yes, we're crazy. :)
He actually did really well and did a lot of what newborns do best, sleeping!
He even tried to sleep right through a scheduled 'feeding' stop at a nice mall with a family/nursing room.
But eventually we made it to our destination: Iowa!
We went to celebrate Independence Day and a Van Gundy family reunion.
Miles didn't waste any time jumping down into Great Grandma Jan's window well...
Within 10-15 minutes, he had this guy in captivity.
And Owen started meeting new family.
Aunt Brenda snuggled him a little.
And then Derek's sister, Aunt Mik, arrived and took her turn.
Owen met his cousin, Mason, too.
So we took a photo of all the Mleynek boy cousins!
Then the farm fun started in full force with four wheeler rides with Daddy.
And mulberry picking with Uncle Bruce.
Cooper couldn't deny his participation in that activity.
Then as it got dark that evening...
Grown men handed my boys fire and explosives!
I chose to hide inside and pretend I didn't know what was happening. :)
The baby was a good excuse... as was doing a couple haircuts.
Lauren came in and snuggled the newest nephew for a while too.
And that let me step outside to see the grand finale.
When Miles came inside, I tried to capture how dirty he was... SO.FILTHY!
You can't see the dirt as well as his goofy personality, which makes me love this photo. :)
While the big brothers took a bath, Owen met Uncle Tyler.
And got ready for Independence festivities the next day!
