The next morning, we headed back toward the city but then went across the Bay Bridge.
This bridge is two levels, each level going a different direction across the bridge.
Until you pass through the tunnel at Treasure Island and onto the new part of the bridge.
Once across the bay, we were in Berkeley.
Where we grabbed cinnamon rolls.
Completely customizable by choosing your frosting flavor and toppings.
We enjoyed them while sitting outside.
Right across the street from the University of California, Berkeley.
Anna offered to take photos of me while we waited for Angie, who was waiting in an enormous line for the Starbucks restroom...
We hit the road towards Napa Valley and at some point on that drive realized our flights for the next morning had been cancelled because of an ice storm in Dallas. We (Angie) spent part of that drive either on hold with the airline or trying to talk someone into helping us locate new flights. We finally booked flights a lot later, mine 11:30pm the next day through Chicago instead of Dallas.
We reached the vineyard in Napa though and were less concerned about ice storms as we enjoyed ourselves.
Angie and Anna sampled some sparkling wines.
While I had some sparkling juice... off the kids menu. :)
We made a stop for some supplies and headed to another vineyard where we sat outside.
Enjoying more sun...
And a picnic lunch.
I got to be designated driver and got to drive Anna's little mini cooper.
Our next stop was Dean & Deluca where we got an espresso shake and Christopher Elbow chocolates.
Then headed to St Helena and window shopped on the cute little streets.
Then we started our trek back to San Carlos through the beautiful vineyards.
And had a great view of the sunset.
And back across the Bay Bridge at night.
We got back in time to meet Jared for dinner. It may have been sister weekend but we enjoy having him around a little. :)
And he knows how to order good and interesting food.
The Schreffs seriously know how to feed people well!!
I am loving all your blog posts and fb pictures from your California trip! Makes me miss California! I haven't been brave yet to take Owen. Dave has gone a couple times and taken Ethan and Andrew since Owen's been born. The idea of being on an airplane with him and not knowing how he'll respond, plus the two hour time difference in the wrong direction, and being away from home for a period of time. So far he's only done a couple overnights in a hotel and he didn't like the sleeping there part so much! Also, I had no idea your middle name is Michelle!
