Horse & Pony

Our second morning at the cabins, it was Derek's turn to make the bacon.

Mostly because we were on our own.
Everyone else had already headed to the stables a little earlier...

 For a trail ride!

We got there just in time to see the adult group coming back.
(This trail ride had an age requirement of 7 years old to go along.)

While they got off and put their horses away, the little crowd entertained themselves.
Laney found a caterpillar.

And what else would we do while killing time but take pictures?
These are Derek's Uncle Brent's kiddos.  Zella, Laney and Archie.

Soon it was time for the kids to go get fitted for a helmet.

And then they were ready for a pony ride.

Zella and Laney got on ponies first, then when it was Cooper's turn to climb on,
it was a horse instead of a pony... he was super pumped about that!

Miles' was a horse too, but he wasn't as sure about it.
This was about the moment he cried that he didn't want to ride.

But after all the adults standing around assured him it would be fun, they were off.

And he was all smiles right away!

  It was fun!

They were led on a little trail, I didn't follow the whole way. I was in flip flops...  and well, take a look at the trail to find out why I didn't want to walk any farther with a camera in front of my face...

And soon, back they came!

Still all smiles.  They loved it!

Miles was captivated with his horse after he got off.
He fed her a little hay to say thanks for the ride.

Both boys enjoyed petting the horses in the stable after their ride.

Then they lined up for one more thing.

A "pony ride" stamp.

Then spent a minute comparing ink.

Great fun at the stables!
