Cherokee Heritage Center Field Trip

One of the fun things about having Owen in school, is that I'm able to go on field trips with the bigger boys!  I got to go to the Cherokee Heritage Center with all fourth graders Miles' school!  This includes his friend, our neighbor, Brodey. :)

I was in charge of a group of three, that didn't include Brodey, since he's not in Miles' class.  We had Chloe in our group, who is part Native American, so she found it especially interesting and we read a lot of information. She also requested we walk through the "Trail of Tears" exhibit.

We soon found the groups outside doing the activities, but each table was packed and we kinda just surveyed the situation.  This was the pottery making station.

There was also a village to explore.

...they sure did!

It really cracked me up when Chloe said, "This looks like it was from Pocahontas"!

We found a table to eat our sack lunches.

Miles of course spent a lot of time looking for bugs.

We did some weaving.

And played a traditional game that, as you might imagine, put my cautious natured personality a bit on edge when each 4th grader was handed a (barely pointed) javelin to throw! :)

It was a fun afternoon spent with Miles!

And his friends!

And Chloe. :)
She was also in his class last year.
