Roaring River 2019 - Arrival

In August, we finally fit in an annual trip to Roaring River State Park to do some camping and fly fishing!  We were packed FULL!
(I totally didn't plan to have Derek in the reflection of my glasses, but I love it!)
As we were driving into the Ozarks, Owen said, "Look at that!" and when we asked him what he saw he said, "A hill!"!!  haha!  We're from the plains of Oklahoma.

We arrived and started setting up camp.

It took Miles approximately 42 seconds to find a bug.

It took slightly longer to set up the tent and get things organized. :)

And these guys were itching to go fishing!

But first we saw on the Wildlife Center schedule that they were playing a film of a dive into the spring.  So we went up to watch that, it was cool to see video from down inside there!

Then it was time for a little animal show of sorts where my boys unapologetically answered all the questions asked about snakes and their characteristics and habits.  Know it alls. Ha.

They even got to hold a snake!

Back at camp Derek wanted to give Owen a little lesson in fly casting.

It went about how you'd expect when teaching a four year old anything of the sort!

These guys headed for the river to see if the trout were biting...

While I made the 16 minute drive to town for tent stakes, a loaf of bread, a bamboo rod....
And maybe a coffee! :)
