Family Zoo Day

We headed to the zoo on a Saturday recently.

We knew we were braving the weekend crowds, but it was the only time we could all go together.

And it wasn't too bad.

We started with the chimpanzees, who were outside playing.

And made our way through at a leisurely pace.

Owen getting a little help from his brothers when needed.

We took a little time to play at the playground, which we rarely do.

We DO always walk through the reptile building.

Because that's a favorite.

Because snakes are a favorite.

The turtles are fun too.

But seriously...  all the creepy crawly things are so fascinating.  Apparently.

I agree that the flamingos are fun! :)

Something else we don't do often is ride the train, but on this day we decided we would.

But we had to wait in line.

And since it was busy that day, we had to split up.  I saw with the bookend bros.

And Derek sat with Miles, who was terrified this ride would be like a roller coaster. HA!

We went though the tunnel, but it didn't get much more exciting than that.

And we got seats together on the ride back.  And Miles had relaxed by then since it was obviously not anything like a roller coaster.

All done, we made out way out!  We always have to wait for Miles, who walks along the creek to find creatures on the way out!

The zoo has actually been closed on and off recently due to flooding of this creek.  The entire Tulsa metro area is experiencing extreme flood levels this year.  We really need a break in the rain!
