2018 AudioFeed Fest: The Road Home

We'd left AudioFeed late at night instead of waiting until morning.  That meant we were back in Peoria a day earlier than we'd planned, so we were headed home a day earlier than planned.  So: goodbyes with Browns came a day earlier also.  This was harder than I expected.  Goodbyes are so hard.  When we moved, we avoided this goodbye knowing that we'd see each other again soon.  The timing of our move is frustrating and the result, Parental Petulance dissolving, a bit heartbreaking.  It was a wild ride and Derek and I loved every second.  Marshall and Ashley took care of all the hard parts of it, the Mleyneks just showed up for the fun parts. :) We're so glad they let us ride along on their journey of parent punk.

We transferred all our things from the camper back into our van and loaded up.

After tearful hugs, it was time to head back to reality and lose the bracelets, the last reminder of our fun week. ha

And fading hair...   haha!
This was the day I dry shampooed my hair in a gas station parking lot.  That has to give me some sort of "on tour with the band" status.  Or "too lazy to take a shower"???

Good thing we left a day early, because we took our time getting home!
We stopped in St Louis at IKEA.

Where we left the littlest two in the play area.

Cooper has exceeded the height limit and had to shop with Mom & Dad.

We also decided to drive a little out of the way to eat dinner at Lambert's.

And there is always a wait to eat at the Home of the Throwed Rolls.

It didn't take long and we were seating and catching rolls.  Miles "finally caught one" after struggling last year and going home with burns...  on his face!

When it was Owen's turn, they ran out of rolls.  The thrower held his empty pan up to show Owen then promised he'd be back.

When he came back out, he walked close enough to our table to give a roll just a small toss that Owen was able to catch.  So fun!  (And Yummy)!

We made it home and discovered storms had passed through during the week.  Thankfully the only damage we had was a small tree limb down.  Hello, real life.
