Since Derek's flight was delayed because of ice in Dallas, we didn't go right from church to the airport as planned. We went over to my parent's house for lunch. Which we had planned to do, we just thought we get to pick up Derek first.
Lunch with Lyla is always interesting. She hops from person to person see what food she can snag. :)
I won one round with ice cream! :)
My little sister, another of Lyla's aunts, posts picture of Sunday lunch time often with the hashtag #lunchwithlyla.
I spent some time downstairs looking at my Grandma's scrapbooks. Owen joined us of for part of it.
Grandpa helped us figure out who people and horses were and where the photos were taken. He recalls details well and has great stories about each page.
After waiting and waiting for their plane to be deiced, Derek finally took off and then landed safely in Wichita! But his luggage/gear didn't. Thankfully, my parents only live a few minutes from the airport, so I went and collected Derek, then we went back for his luggage once it arrived. Once everything was in our possession, we said our goodbyes to my family and headed back to Mleynek's. We had a great New Year's Eve dinner, then played games through the evening.
Most of us played games, anyway. Derek's travel and early hunting mornings caught up with him!
A few of us managed to stay awake to ring in the New Year! Derek woke up to help get everyone to bed.
🎉 Happy New Year! 🎉
