The boys hadn't been in school a whole month yet when we had them miss a day to go to my cousin's wedding in Nebraska. Before dawn on September 1st, we loaded up the car.
And hit the road toward North Platte, Nebraska. This meant we basically traveled along Interstate 80 for nearly 10 hours. But there were some interesting things to see.
We lived in western Nebraska (near Wauneta) when I was very young, then moved to the central part of the state (Franklin) later. My Mom's parents lived in Lincoln and my Dad's parents near North Platte. We drove I-80 a lot, so there were quite a few familiar land marks.
We lived just south of Pioneer Village and drove past it often.
We also camped at the site once, just once, since Dad couldn't handle the noise from the interstate. :)
Owen wasn't really into reminiscing about landmarks with me... he took a blanket nap.
But was pretty excited about this short sink during a bathroom break. ha.
Eventually.... we made it! We got to our hotel where my parents were awaiting our arrival, having beat us there by about an hour.
And since it was my Mom's birthday, Owen gave her a little gift from us.
And sat near while she opened it.
Happy Birthday, and ready for a fun weekend!
