Independence Day in Iowa 2017 - The Parade

The 'big guys' made their way to town on tractors.  Miles held Daddy's hat on for him so Daddy shared an earbud with him.  :)

We arrived in town and delivered the candy for the guys to throw.  Owen might have sampled a piece or two.

Miles wanted to ride in the parade, but the other boys came with me to find a spot on Main Street to watch.

G'ma Debbie was with us too.

The parade always begins with the high school band playing the national anthem.

Owen tried to put his hand over his heart just like the rest of us.

Then he was pretty excited when the firetrucks came down the street next.

Fairly quickly, the 'group of green shirts' we'd been told to watch for came along.

Aunt Kelly had asked us to be in position to take photos when one of them handed a gift to Derek's cousin Miranda...

Which said, "Guess who is getting... Engaged?"!

Which is when she turned around to find her boyfriend down on one knee with a ring!

And she said YES! :)

As the excitement died down, a Minion was next to come down the street!

Then soon, here came our tractors!

Grandpa Dale led the way.

Then Daddy and Miles...   who always makes sure to throw Coop's favorite candy.  It's like an agreement they have every year.

Next was Ryan, who also threw a handful of candy toward us.

And Grandpa Gordie took up the rear of our group.

One of my favorites, the Corn Kings, came along next.

By this point in the parade, Owen had figured out if he waved, people threw candy!

It didn't hurt that he loved waving at all the trucks.

That was also about the time Miles had reached the end of the parade and run over to see the rest with us.

Then "Batman" G'pa Don came down the street!

This so was fun and he ended up winning 'Best Miscellaneous Float' overall.

The horses always come last.  You know... so no one has to worry about their droppings.

That brought us to the conclusion of the Yale Independence Day Parade of 2017
