Something or Nothing

You know me, I like to post about real life.  About everything, and nothing, that happens around here.  This typically includes 'scrapbooking' my thoughts here when someone is sick.   This time around it was Owen. 😢  His symptoms were a high fever and a slight rash.  He usually likes his bed, but feeling ill, he really liked to lay in bed.

I would also find him randomly asleep on the living room floor.

He was also sleeping in late.  He came to my bed early in the morning, then slept there until after 9am.

He laid on the couch while we worked on school.

About a day and half into Owen's illness, Derek left for a turkey hunt in South Dakota.

So I spent a lot of time cuddling a sick baby.

The morning after Derek left, Owen was so sick.  His fever was hitting 104º when Tylenol wore off and his rash had gotten worse.

So, I called our doctor and made him appointment so we could get him checked out.  The rash was concerning, mostly because I foolishly took a look on Google and found scary things related to rashes.  Like, Sepsis and Meningitis.   Oops.

We were trying really hard to wrap up school for the year, so the boys worked while we waited on the doctor.

Owen's throat and ears looked great, so those weren't the problem.  To try and figure it out, he had to have his blood drawn.  And a chest x-ray.  Both were kind of traumatic for all of us, but he handled it so well!

It was pretty exhausting.  Owen took a good nap and his sleep deprived Mama caught a short snooze and then accomplished some housework while he slept it all off.

Our doctor had no diagnoses after seeing him, so we had to wait to see if test results showed anything other than a virus.   All this, and my hubby was completely and totally unavailable with absolutely no cell service.  We hadn't heard from him since the night before, so I couldn't even warn him I was incurring all these medical bills.

These kiddos always seem to get the most sick when Daddy is gone.
