Vegas Departure

On departure day in Vegas, Derek and I went for a quick dip in the hot tub before checking out.

Then headed to the airport.   Where I waited on Derek to make his way though security since he was 'randomly' chosen for a more extensive search.  Including his entire carry-on bag being searched by hand.  Good thing we were early enough!

We made it to our flight and were soon on our way back to Kansas City.

Where my parents had driven with our boys to meet us.

That was a fun little reunion!

It's crazy to throughly enjoy time away from them, and miss them so much at the same time!

Hugs and kisses all around.

And a family photo.  Which Owen didn't really have time for.  There were planes to see.  And birds in the airport, BIRDS!

In fact, the photo session abruptly ended when Owen squirmed and got away from me, becoming only a blur...   chasing after birds!

Papa knew how to keep track of him.

If only Papa could keep track of the cars. 😊

We toured the parking garage for a few minutes before realizing they'd parked another level up. 😂

That's when it was time to say our goodbyes.

And the realization hit Owen that Gammy was leaving.

And he was a little sad about it.

He was okay with it, although he wanted to hold my hand on the drive home. 😍

A drive that finally ended at 2am.  It was a bit brutal, so we all did a little happy dance at the sight of our own beds!

Owen had slept most of the drive, so he was ready to play with trains for a while!

It didn't take long to unload and head to bed though.  Derek was determined to go to work the next morning, which is part of why we drove so late...    welcome back!

In conclusion, Las Vegas isn't somewhere we'd choose to go just for fun without other plans, but we made the most of it and had a great time.

What Happens in Vegas... gets posted on my blog! hahaha!

Thanks to all our family who participated in the choreography and logistics that helped us make this happen!
