My big boys are helping with more chores all the time. Folding laundry is one we all dread. Ha. Their folding skills are improving, but still leave a little to be desired. But we were getting ready to leave for a trip and I needed their help!
Derek's employer was sending him to the NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Trade Show in Las Vegas. So, he decided to take me along!! π It took some coordination figuring out what to do with the boys, and in the end, the best option was to do a road trip before our flight. We drove to Kansas City to meet up with Derek's parents, who would take the boys home with them from there, and we would fly out of the Kansas City Airport. So we scored the best price on flights and got the boys to grandparents.
I didn't get into bed until after 2am, with an alarm set for 4:15am. Oops. Yay, for coffee! ha.
Even with a 4:45am wake up call, Owen was the only one that actually took a car nap. When he wasn't watching for trains, which we actually saw driving across Missouri!
And there was a train across the street from our fist pit stop too!
Owen also spent some time reading his new book...
I saw it and knew he had to have it. π
We arrived at Aunt Brenda's house and she had her toy trains ready and waiting for Owen to play with!
This was Derek's cousin, Ryan's, set and all of the kids have played with it. Pretty cool. I'm glad Aunt Brenda has kept it around!
Mason enjoys it too... and Aunt Brenda's house is kind of his territory. HA. They handled this just fine though.
And there were other things to do anyway. G'pa Dale and G'ma Debbie had arrived too!
The kids had a chance to play outside for a while.
Cousins!
Soon it was time for the boys to load up in Grandma's van and head to Uncle Ty's to drop off Mason before heading to Wichita. So we said our goodbyes, which everyone handled just fine! I wasn't sure about Owen, since I've never left him before, but he acted like a pro. :) And apparently when they pulled away, Miles said, "Well, we won't see them again for another five days."! π
Next Aunt Brenda took Derek and I to the airport to catch our flight.
Here we go! πππ
Does my heart good to see all the boys enjoy Ryan's train! I'm glad you came through KC and I was able to see you all!!!! :)
