Planning Fishing Trips

My boys are pretty obsessive about fishing.  And when they can't be out fishing, they're obsessing over their bait.  They talk about bait and trade lures obsessively.

They also love to watch instructional fishing videos online and find out what lures to use and when.  Once night Derek found this in Miles' covers with him when he tucked him in! (ouch!)

Owen wanted in on the fun, so Miles got him a snack bowl and started giving him his own little lures with no hooks.

Then for Christmas, Miles got upgraded to a bigger tackle box.

Which meant Owen inherited the Lightning McQueen tackle box.

So now he's involved in the bait bartering too.

And he sometimes brings his tackle box out of his room with him early in the morning.

We just have to watch him around the lures that have hooks.  And even being cautious, this sometimes happens. Oops.

And I really have no idea how this happened!

Derek's direct manager is the publisher of In-Fisherman Magazine (and VP over television production).  He gave my boys an In-Fisherman calendar.  It shows the optimal times for fishing each day of the year.

So, they have planned out their fishing trips for the whole year. We've already missed quite a few scheduled fishing trips since January 1st.  Oops. :)

Add to all of this that a co-worker of Derek's moved out of town and gifted us a little boat!  Derek always looks forward to fishing, and is now just as excited as his little boys! :)

Counting the days until the weather warms enough for days spent fishing.
