Festival of Lights 2016

We haven't made it every single year, but since moving to Peoria, one of our favorite Christmas time traditions is the Festival of Lights.   So we loaded up in the van, took some snacks and drinks and drove to East Peoria. (It's a different city and is across the river.  Now you know.)  We waited in a long line of cars this year...

But it moves pretty quickly and soon we were at the entrance of FOLEPI's Village.
FOLEPI = Festival Of Lights East Peoria Illinois.  Now you know.  :)

We've seen them all already, but it's still a fun sight.
And we always mention how they spelled "Wall-E" wrong. ha.

Owen doesn't remember last year, of course, so his reactions were fun.  He liked the train.

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is one of our favorites too.

And the tunnel you drive through.  It's much more like a tunnel in real life.  I promise.

Cooper and Miles are always immediately on the lookout for the Batmobile!

And the firetruck was another favorite of Owen's.

The lights are pretty, but the (iPhone) photos don't turn out well.  And part the wonder of this festival is that quite a few of the displays have moving parts.   So here's a video that show just a very small sampling of movement.

As a finale, Santa waves goodbye at the exit!

As we left, we headed down the street to the Nativity Scene.

They're cardboard cutouts, as Miles so disappointedly mentioned to us... 😏

But it's fun to see all the scenes represented around Jesus' birth...  the true LIGHT.
