Kansas Christmas - Part 1

Derek was overloaded with work between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Our "Christmas" celebration day was the one and only day he didn't go to work the whole month.  He went in early and worked late, pulling some nearly all nighters a couple times.

This left me to do the Christmas shopping and get ready for the big family Christmas.  We finally got it all 'wrapped up. (ha!)  My boys were a big help too.

Yep, even Owen!

We were finally ready to hit the road toward family for Christmas.
But we were keeping a close eye on the sky...

Because our phones were alerting us of bad weather.  I'm a nervous wreck traveling in bad weather, but thankfully this happened while it was still light and we could see what was going on around us.  Because we would only had the ditch nearby if we'd need to take cover quickly.

Except that the wind was strong, it all passed (or we passed?) without incident.

And noticing the wind might have been partly due to driving a van now instead of a small car.  Things cleared up as fast as it had gotten bad.

And although we arrived late at night, by morning we were at Derek's parent's where Owen had his morning nap cuddling Aunt Mik and listening to music on her phone.

And Miles had Christmas Cookies for breakfast!
Hello, Christmas Break at Grandma's!

Owen woke up and played on the floor with Grandpa.

We headed over to Grandma & Papa's house to welcome cousins when they arrived in town.

And did a little catching up before leaving of the night.

We were all ready to settle in for a fun week!
To quote Jaedyn: "The best things about Grandma's, is there are no rules!"!!!
