Let's Go!

We left home a few days before Labor Day weekend... Kansas bound!  By boys had so many new cousins to meet!  We have a tradition of holding our breath as we cross the river... this one out of Peoria meant our road trip officially started.

As we backed out of the driveway, Miles declared, "I'll need a nap.".  So I was surprised it took almost three hours in to actually take one.

We stopped for a quick lunch, a car picnic in a parking lot.  Ha.

And by late afternoon had made it to Kansas City to Derek's brother, Tyler's, house... Because we NEEDED to meet Mason!

I held him first.  :)

Then I shared with Cooper.

He liked him immediately.

Miles opted not to hold him right then but did pose for a photo.
Mleynek Cousins!

And then the boys quickly headed outside.

They knew that Uncle Ty had a fish pond.

And they DID NOT forget that the last time they were there in June, he promised them that next time they could use the net to try and catch the fish.

And they actually caught some baby goldfish!

Some of us were inside playing with the actual baby.  Uncle Trey (who came with us) got a turn to hold his new nephew.

And Uncle Derek had had a turn by then.

Eventually Miles came in and decided he would have a try at it.

And guess what, he kinda liked him! :)

This baby got a thorough examination...

Brothers with their boys.

All of us!  It was great to spend a little time with Tyler, Lauren and Mason.

But then we headed over to Uncle Bruce & Aunt Brenda's house where we were staying.  They had cicada shells...  Miles spotted them right away!  Uncle Bruce got a broom to get the ones we couldn't reach.

This picture didn't turn out well, but Aunt Brenda made "Brenda Bars" which thrilled my boys greatly.  She's famous for them and we've come to expect them.  Ha.

Then Ryan was nice enough to put up with the boys for a while before we finally made them go to bed.

Whew!  Day one.  More to come!
