The first day after Miles' surgery he was only allowed a liquid diet. He asked for food over and over, breaking my heart! Once he was okay to try food, he didn't understand that no matter what he ate, it would hurt.
He would try a bite of something, it would hurt, he would ask for something else, it would hurt and the cycle would continue. He didn't want cold food after the second day, so popsicles, jello and ice cream weren't working. We tried yogurt, pudding, broth, mashed banana... sometimes all within ten minutes!
Poor guy was in a lot of pain.
(Apparently the pain feels like it's in your ears after removing tonsils)
I was texting with my sister, Anna, about how Miles was doing and explained his not finding anything he could eat. She suggested mac-n-cheese. After that, he ONLY wanted mac-n-cheese. He even ate it for breakfast a couple times!
Sometimes he hardly had the strength to finish,
but he kept asking for it and wanted it nearby. Ha.
Then I found these! So perfect for my boy who was watching "How to Train Your Dragon" constantly... while eating mac-n-cheese!
The noodles were the shape of dragons and vikings from the movie.
He had fun naming them while we prepared them.
Maybe too much fun...
Cooper enjoyed this treat with him.
He lost three pounds during the ordeal so I've been giving him food as often as he will eat.
When we went grocery shopping about ten days post op,
Miles thought we needed to restock our mac-n-cheese supply.
That was about the time we started seeing glimpses of Miles goofy self again.
This week he's feeling pretty much back to normal.
And in this picture he was on his third breakfast, none of them being mac-n-cheese!
