One of Wichita State's rivals is Bradley University, which is here in Peoria.
So when the shockers came to town to play, we bought tickets to the game!
We were all excited (me, mostly!) and did a few things to get ready...
I made these signs for the boys to hold up.
And this one to hold up when the Shockers won and would have a 30-0 record.
Confidant? Yes!! :)
We got to the game and found our seats, which were pretty high up.
But we were ready to cheer on the Shox... with Bradley fans all around us!
Actually, I think I saw a shocker about every couple rows, here and there, and scattered around.
We cheered when they announced the visiting team's starting line up.
Miles thought this whole process slightly loud.
Then the game started.
We behaved for the most part. I hollered a pretty loud "Ohhhhhhh" when Ron Baker made a one handed dunk on a fast break. But we tried to be considerate of all the fans for the other team around us... they weren't going to come out ahead, so we had compassion. :)
Derek took the boys for snacks and Cooper came back with this.
Pretty sure it's one of the main reasons the boys were so excited about going to the game. It was held at the same place as the hockey games they've been too. So they're familiar with the concessions. Ha.
Since it was a televised game, it got moved to 8pm.
Miles might have been dragging by on red dye and sugar from the icee at this point!
And, no surprise to us, the Shockers won!
Making history with 30-0 record!
I have to say, it was pretty exciting, even being at an away game to see it.
After the game we went down and stood behind the commentators while they did the post game show. Unless someone was watching when they showed a wide view and noticed me waving our "Shox" sign around like a mad woman, we didn't get on TV. But a few of the players came back out!
I talked Cooper into posing with Cleanthony Early. Miles was too shy. And I was kind of star struck... and wished later we'd have thought to have the players sign our 30-0 sign. Bummer. Next time? :)
And then after a fun filled evening, we headed home. Miles even exiting on his own two feet. I was sure Derek would be carrying him asleep at that point.
We're not long time fans, as I've mentioned before, but we're proud of Wichita State.
And over the weekend the Shox completed regular season with a win making them perfect, 31-0!
Go Shockers!
