Every year around Christmas the Homeschool Basketball program Derek and I played for during high school holds an alumni game. My sister, Mandy, played in the program too so we headed over to the gym for the girls game...
I should probably play a little more than once a year, but it's still fun to get out there and try.
I consider it a success just to make it up and down the floor a few times.
It's a bonus if I remember how to dribble the ball while doing so.
The older I get, the more I don't mind this seat during the game.
And there is a lot more of this with each passing year.
Still... always fun to get together with the other homeschool alums and play.
A few of our family came to watch.... although Miles slept through the entire girls game.
Next up was the guys game. Derek and my brother, Drew, played.
Drew's wife, Candice, was a homeschool cheerleader.
Some of them got together and did some stunts.
The guys game is always more exciting than the girls but apparently not exciting enough? This picture cracks me up! Mandy is watching, but everyone else seems to be finding something else to do... or yawning. (Mom, past your bedtime?!)
Derek played quite a bit, but did this often too.
And yes, this.
He actually played really well and although we didn't keep track, figured he must have scored 16+ points. And younger guys could be heard saying, "Why am I guarding him?". Yep, he's still got it. :)
His play earned him a high five after the game.
And a hug.
The kids got a turn to play around a little after the games.
G'pa Dale helped Miles shoot a bucket.
We enjoyed the evening of basketball and were actually able to get out of bed and walk the next day. :)
