On Friday, Derek got up super early and loaded
onto an airplane with his Uncles, who are pilots.
And flew to Wichita to pick up Derek's Dad. Dale hadn't been able to get the
Thanksgiving overnight shift off at the airport where he works as an air traffic controller.
They retrieved their cargo and headed back to Iowa.
Drew had ordered a game to play with the boys and it arrived after he left so Dale brought it along and they opened it and starting playing right away.
But why the funny faces?
In this game, you spin the wheel to tell which color jellybean you have to eat. It might be a yummy one... but it might not be! Toothpaste, baby wipes, rotten egg, dog food or barf. Ewww. Who would play such a game? They sent us home with our own, so I guess we'll find out!
They actually stuck with it for a while before everyone was grossed out and went to find chewing gum to try and rid the gross taste in their mouths.
So Grandma Debbie had an idea and spelled the word "park" to me to see if I though it would be okay for her to take the kids into town and play. Cooper didn't waste much time telling us he thought it was, in fact, a good idea! Apparently we've passed the point of being able to spell small words around him if we want them to remain unknown. I actually had a proud-mommy-moment since it's not a sight word or a word we've worked on. And the boys got to go to the park with Grandma.
Then later that evening we went to visit a good family friend, Norma,
who dated Derek's Grandad for a lot of years before he passed away.
It was good to spend some time with her and catch up.
...and we all fit nicely into her assisted living room!
