Last Saturday our church held our second annual Harvest Fair. We were in Hawaii during last year's and were excited to attend the event and help out this year. Things started in the morning with a craft fair where vendors set up and sold mostly handmade or unique items.
Then in the afternoon we set up games and held a completely free kid's carnival for the community.
There was a live blue grass band playing while all the fun was happening.
Our family had the first half hour shifts to run a game.
And then we were free to have fun and enjoy the day.
There was an inflatable slide...
Which, of course, the boys enjoyed.
Miles went down with our friend, Sarah, who he sometimes calls "Syrup".
And she doesn't even care. :)
Then we hit a round of games ourselves to win tickets and 'buy' prizes.
We also found a slice of pizza who led us to free samples.
We also found our friend Ethan playing "Pin the Beak on the Owl".
And his brother, Malachi, taking advantage of the free popcorn.
There was a face painting booth that you could spend your tickets on.
Cooper hopped in the chair and looked like he was ready for a spa treatment.
But started squinting and flinching when they sprayed him with the paint.
...which left funny little wrinkles around his eyes and nose that cracked me up.
Miles chickened out and decided that instead of a cheetah face, he would just get a pumpkin on his hand.
Which he thought was great.
And then.... off to play more games! Cooper loved trying to find the pine cone under the cup.
Miles wasn't quite as good at it, but had fun guessing.
He really liked this game. He's three and it involved a water gun... of course.
Cooper threw baseballs at a target.
And stepped so close to the ring toss that I would call it cheating.
No cheating here when Miles showed off his arm by aiming right at Benjamin and nailing him.
We went inside and found the "abandoned mine shaft".
The entrance started at a classroom door.
And was a maze of boxes through the whole room and then out the other door.
Derek made it though only losing a button off his cuff.
On down the hall we found the cake walk.
Where the boys each won a cupcake... or two! Cooper landed on the bonus square!
Back outside we saw the petting zoo.
We met Rocky.
And walked through the traveling zoo on wheels.
Cooper pet the sheep.
And Miles found a cute little rabbit.
And before we left for the day, there was this....
Derek signed up and donned his bib.
He wasted no time trying to be the first to finish his pie.
He says he should have done better but I'm proud of his third place ribbon.
And I'll gladly help him with the free sundae coupon. :)
The boys felt the need to fit in every last ounce of fun they could by hitting the craft table.
And then Miles sang like Elvis while playing his new banjo.
It was a FUN day spent with friends and having lots of fun!
Maybe too much fun? Miles was pretty much spent by the time we wrapped it up.
We're already looking forward to next year's Harvest Fair!
