Cooper very last soccer game of the season was cancelled due to rain. So it's a good thing Derek took along the good camera, you know, the one we rarely use anymore thanks to the convenience of our iPhones, to his second to last game. He took a bunch, but here are a few of my favorites.
Cooper kicking during warm ups.
And going after the ball during the game.
He kept asking to play goalie. He likes that position and asks to be put there often.
He sometimes knows where the ball is and we're always hollering at him to pay attention. I asked him what he likes about playing goalie and he said it was because he could touch the ball with his hands then.
Which he might like because he sometimes misses with his foot...
Or because playing goalie requires less running. It was HOT & HUMID that day.
They drank lots of water.
Things Cooper could work on if he decides to play soccer again are:
Staying upright on two feet while running.
Not picking his nose.
Kicking in the general direction of the ball, not other player's legs.
And listening to the coaches instruction.
Cooper worked hard this season and learned a lot.
He might even be just a little faster than before soccer started.
And he definitely knows more about the game.
Derek and I do too. Although I'm pretty sure this kind of contact isn't actually allowed.
And I'm just waiting to sign him up for basketball, a game I do know. When his coach said, "Mark Up!" Cooper played defense like a mad man. Box out, Coop! :)
It was a fun season with the Fireballs... and I loved that they encouraged good sportsmanship. Because that's what it's all about.
Good job, Cooper!
