Hanakapiai Hike

Derek and I got up one morning on Kauai with plans to hike to Hanakapi'ai Falls.
It was a beautiful trail, usually fairly easy to walk along.

We had to hop or climb across rocks every now an then.

But every view was worth it!

Halfway to the falls was the beach, we stopped for a break.

Then we hiked on to the falls.

I've never seen anything like it... so fun.

And SO freezing!

But we weren't leaving without swimming under the waterfall.
(That's Derek out there!)

It's hard to tell here, but we're behind the waterfall.

This was just before a couple in their 26th year of marriage asked us if we were on our honeymoon.  They were surprised when we said we were celebrating our 10th anniversary and said they just assumed by watching us that we were newlyweds.  :)

Derek cut together this video with some of the footage he shot with his GoPro in a waterproof case:

After cooling off swimming we headed back down the trail, it was four miles to the falls, so eight miles round trip.  It took almost half way down for me to thaw out enough I could feel my fingers again.

We enjoyed so much beautiful scenery along the way.

We made it back down and hit Ke'e Beach (right at the bottom of the trail) for some snorkeling.

GREAT DAY!  :)
