We went for a little drive in the country to see the church Dad pastored. Eden Missionary Church closed down but there is another group using the building now.
Angie and I took a look at our old house... it looks so much different but was fun to see.
And since this is probably a boring post to most of you, here are some fun facts.
This is the wind mill Angie convinced me to climb to the top of and drop the laundry soap lid down. After she'd done it first, of course! While I was climbing Mom yelled out the window to please get down and never climb that high up again. We also put boards across them bottom and used it as a fort.
The garage is gone... it used to sit over this concrete. I was hoping I could see how high the roof seemed now. It may not have looked as high as it did when I was eight years old and Angie made me jump off of it! (We were jumping of the opposite side Dad was on so that he didn't see us up there. We'd been told not to climb up there... oops!) We also tipped Dad's motorcycle over on Anna in that garage once. We didn't tell him until years later that it was actually us and not the dogs. We did tell you that, right Dad? :)
There are a lot less trees out there now. Except the evergreens we planted while we lived there. They've grown up! And that tank to the left of the photo is where our skunk infested shed used to be...until the small tornado picked it up and smashed it all over the yard one night. And because I've talked about what bad kids we were... :) Our garden took up most of the space in the photo. Not.even.kidding. We spent a lot of time weeding out there, and it wasn't even a punishment!
The fence around the cemetery has been updated. Dad shot a badger out there once...
but that's all the cemetery stories I'm going to tell!
I've told too many stories in one post as it is!

It was fun to walk around a reminisce about old times.
I loved this post! I'm not sure your stories are completely accurate however. Especially since they all include "Angie made me..." I also remember some stick walls I had to acknowledge. Being locked in said infested skunk shed by Anna. And many many more good memories!
ReplyDeleteHAHA! Love it. Once we were rearranging the boards on the windmill & I dropped a board on Anna's head :/
ReplyDeleteOh my! Such mischievous little girls! They say what goes around comes around, so watch out mamas!
ReplyDeleteI visited you all there once, and there was a dust storm. I've never seen anything quite like that. We even had a layer of dirt covering the inside of our car. And while tooling around with your family, your Dad had to stop the vehicle to discipline Anna. And those are the sum total of my Wauneta memories. (except that I was pregnant with Tyler and puking a lot, and we had to stop at every KFC on the way there and back to get mashed potatoes.)
