From Trumpet to Percussion

Cooper spent the first semester of 6th grade playing the trumpet.  His school gives beginner band members a choice of four instruments to start out...  Trumpet, trombone, flute, or clarinet.

Then after they've learned the basics, they can try out for another instrument.  Cooper wanted to try for percussion. They didn't want them to practice, they had some sort of test that would determine if they had a natural rhythm...  which apparently Cooper has! He made percussion!  So we traded in the rental trumpet (the school has a deal like this with a local music shop) for a xylophone...

And he pulled out Daddy's snare practice pad, since we already had that.

Pa rum pum pum pum... here we go!
