We made a trip back to Iowa for a memorial service for Derek's Grandpa Don. We drove in on the first day of deer season and joined the evening chili feed at Derek's Aunt and Uncle that follows.
The next day, the boys showed Uncle Kaulin around the farm a bit.
And then we gathered at the community building in town.
It was more of a casual get together than a funeral.
With food...
And G'pa's favorite drink.
And some of his favorite things were on display too.
Derek's Mom brought supplies to keep the grandboys busy during the speaking.
And after a few hours, we helped clean it all up.
We said our goodbyes and headed for home.
It was a nice time with family celebrating G'pa and sharing memories.
