Garage Sale - The Sale & Celebration

We were up and set up for our garage sale in good time.  Though with a one day sale, I think you miss the serious shoppers early Friday morning.

We didn't have much early morning traffic...  but we were ready!

Though it didn't take long for these guys to start dipping into profits! ha.

Then quite literally spilling the profits when they tipped their table.

Owen was trying to up the profits by playing with the toys and showing all the kids how fun they were.

But it was slow enough that Derek decided to get out his kit and tie some flies at the cash table.

Owen joined in for a while.

Before eating some more of the profits.

Which we had put in the shade by then.

We had some pretty good traffic times and the boys sold all but a handful of their cookies!  Some of them to our new friend at our local Walmart.  You might remember we met him when we went looking for the Elf on the Shelf, Sparks.  He saw the boys were having a cookie sale and came to encourage their entrepreneurship.

He did a nice post about them on Walmart's Instagram page.

We stayed open the entire day, and when it started sprinkling on us, decided to go ahead and clean up.

After clean up, it was time to count the profits.  Honestly, we didn't make much. :-/

The boys' cookie stand did about as well as the whole sale!  They each got $23.50!
...after I donated the set up cost of ingredients.

We decided to go celebrate, and spend the profits! haha.

Not hard to spend a bunch when the kids order a triple burger at Fat Guys
Miles ate the WHOLE thing!!!

Then went across the street and tried out Iguana Island for pineapple whips.

YUM!!

It was a fun celebration. :)

A garage sale is so much work. whew.
The best part of the day was that Derek saw this at a neighbor's sale when he went to put out our signs.  He'd been shopping for one and knew they cost hundreds of dollars.  So purchasing this whole tool chest for $40 was a great deal!  Maybe we should have offered to trade for cookies? :)
