Cooper's Fifth Grade Day

The last week of school was pretty busy!  But we were all excited to wrap up the school year!

Honestly, they don't do a lot of learning that week. ha. But they do have a lot of fun, and I'm not mad abou that. :)  Miles' class made board games.

And they had an awards assembly. Cooper got a music award.

I though they moved all the fifth grade awards to a different day, and wasn't there for this, but our neighbor got a photo with Coop!

Cooper had a "Fifth Grade Day" the next day. I volunteered to help with food, so I took Owen and we went to help set up.

The pizza was delivered...
it takes a lot of pizza to feed five fifth grade classes and a handful of parents!! haha.

During set up, Cooper peeked out of his room and saw Owen. So he got permission to bring Owen in and watch Wild Kratts with the class.

Then it was time to eat! Derek took the afternoon off and showed up around then too. Owen would have just taken that plate of carrots!  And I had to convince him to please take a couple bites of pizza.  What?!

We ate in Cooper's classroom while we watched a slideshow of all the fifth graders.

It's always fun to be at school with him and meet all his teachers and classmates.
Thankfully, Cooper isn't embarrassed to have us around. :)

Next we headed to the gym, where I talked Owen into snapping this photo.
(and several other outtakes!)

Then he could play with his toys.

Then they had the awards assembly, you know, the one I knew about...  Cooper got a citizen award!  And also made honor roll for the third trimester, making it all three! So proud of him!

Then: The long awaited talent show!!  Cooper had come home weeks before and told us he signed up to try out for the talent show.  And he wanted to dance! :)  So he choreographed a dance, went to the audition, and made it!  We watched all the other acts, waiting for Cooper's turn.  These girls did a cute dance to the popular "Baby Shark" song.

One of his classmates sang, "Levon" by Elton John.  He rocked it!!

There were skits and dances...

...piano pieces.

Then it was Cooper's turn.

I could tell he was nervous, but it seemed to fuel him. You can hear Owen remind him to "do the moonwalk" part way through! haha!  It was fun to watch his peers cheer him on.  Apparently he didn't show off his moves at school much, some of the teachers told us afterword that they had no idea he could move like that! :)

All the acts took a bow together at the end.  They all did great and I was proud of Cooper for participating and working so hard on his dance.

If you see this YouTube video has a million plays, it's mostly us watching it on repeat! 😂
