At the boys' last dental exam, Cooper checked out great.
But Owen was rightly concerned for Miles. He had seven cavities. (!!)
Owen got to pick out a toothbrush, even though he won't get his own teeth looked at until next time.
Miles, my bookworm, took his book along to read during down time.
After they both got their teeth cleaned, we took them to school.
But Miles had to go see a pediatric dentist a couple months later. Which turned out, has a projector in the ceiling to play games while you wait your turn.
This was great fun for the boys.
It also turns out, have a coffee station. (whoop!)
Miles was brave, this appointment was simply a consultation to discuss falling all those cavities. And flossing more. Yikes.
When we took Miles back to school, Owen got to go behind the desk in the office to check out Santa Claus! And now asks about Santa any time we're in there, even though Santa was put away with the Christmas decorations.
The next visit, more games.
Owen brought a few items to keep him occupied while Miles got a filling.
Miles also got to watch a movie during the process.
Which ended up being three appointments to fill all seven cavities.
Owen didn't mind going back each time if it meant games while we waited.
Though one of the appointments fell over nap time...
Only one of Miles' filling was in a permanent tooth, meaning that was the only one they did a whole block on instead of numbing locally. It left him feeling a little rough. (He took his stuff fish for comfort.)
It wasn't a horrible experience, but I hope it was just bad enough to motivate him to take good care of his teeth!! :)
