Dale and Debbie had been planning this event for weeks! They had registered for a zoo night with the boys! This is an event the Wichita zoo hosts, regularly, I guess. It's a sleepover at the zoo!
Once they left for their night of fun, I had some errands to run... and when I'm by myself (and sometimes when I'm not! ha) errands include spending Starbucks gift cards. :)
Knowing I had the entire evening to myself, I wanted to go out for sushi. Our favorite sushi restaurant in Wichita burned down recently. :( But there are others out there... So I invited Derek's siblings to go check one out. I got there first and waited.
Derek's brother, Drew, was the only one who ended up making it to dinner. We both tried something new (the Wichita roll for me!) and liked everything we tried.
Drew also insisted on paying. What a sweet brother-in-law....
it was fun to spend time visiting, just the two of us, that doesn't ever happen.
Drew also ordered some Mochi ice cream, which is apparently common at sushi restaurants, but I'd never heard of it or tried it. It was great!
Meanwhile, I was receiving fun picture texts of what my little guys were up to.
They were checking out the reptiles and I got a photo of each of them with their favorite.
They also made mod-podge paper lanterns that were to be used during the nature walk in the morning.
They made friends with a guinea pig!

And a gecko!
Like really made friends. Miles says he got to feel the sticky spots on the bottom of his feet.
And he also informed me that he'll know how to take care of one when we get a pet gecko.
And yes, this was an overnight trip to the zoo. So they pitched their tents, thankfully INSIDE, making 'camp' for the night.
