Thanksmas in Iowa 2017 - The End

We woke up the second morning in Iowa and got ready to head home, but first there was a little time to write notes on G'pa Don's notepad.

We said our goodbyes and hit the road.  Our first stop was the World's Largest Truckstop where Owen found a giraffe he wanted to bring home.

I went to purchase some coffee while Derek took the boys to see the semi trucks.

They climbed around inside one and loved it.

When they caught back up with me, Derek had Owen's face buried in his chest.  He looked at me and said, "Don't freak out, it's not as bad as it looks.".  Oh, boy! ha.  Apparently Owen hit his head on a truck bumper.  He didn't even cry... but had quite a goose egg on his forehead!  We put an ice pack on it and hit the road again.

We made it home, and first things first we had to set up Owen's PJ Masks race track.

Then it was time for bed.  Owen's head looked much better by then, but he had a bruise for at least ten days!

Speaking of bruises, Miles had already had a nice shiner from a fidget spinner that left his big brothers hand at a rapid pace.  (insert eyeroll)

As it ended up, we all matched soon when Owen hit my face with his head while we were reading a book, giving me a small bruise.   We still needed to take a Christmas card photo and I debated just waiting for the other two family members to get banged up and have it be a theme!
