We woke up the first morning in Vegas and saw the view from our room in daylight. It's impossible to capture in a photo, because the mountain range seems so much bigger in person! We overlooked the pool, and those tall buildings are casinos, I think the Rio is the largest. It has a zipline between the buildings that we could see if we looked closely. And at night we could see the lights of the zipline chair going back and forth.
Talk about starting a 'vacation' out right, I woke up to find that Derek had already showered and ventured downstairs to the in-casino Starbucks and gotten me a vanilla latte. I literally opened my eyes to see it sitting on the nightstand. 😍 Eventually we both ventured down to find that the casino is hopping, even in the morning.
We also found that the atrium in the lobby was beautiful and tropical during the day. Behind Derek was a bridge over some sort of water with a waterfall.
We headed across the street where we could see our hotel in daylight from the outside.
Our mission was the Walgreens across the street... because I woke up with a killer headache and hadn't packed Excedrin.
And that's when it happened. The King arrived! Derek snuck this photo of Elvis buying a beer at a Walgreen's on the strip... at 9am. Making all of his dreams come true. Ha ha ha ha ha!
After Derek regained consciousness from being star struck, we went to find some breakfast. Which we found in the form of a buffet at the Venetian.
Which had gondola rides out front.
I also snapped a photo of the pirate ship in front of Treasure Island. Mostly because I knew my boys would appreciate it, but now you get to enjoy it too, dear reader. :)
We wandered around a little, enjoying the warmth of the sun. It was great medicine for a headache. On our way back into our hotel, we stopped to see the waterfall right out front.
Derek didn't have anything planned for work until dinner that night...
so we enjoyed the morning sightseeing.
