Galesburg Goodbyes

The very last morning, Aunt Mandy may have finally won Owen over.
With a powdered donut! :)

The day flew by, and soon it was time to load up and drive the 50 minutes back to the Galesburg train station.

Once we got to Galesburg, we had a little time to kill.  So Grandma thought the kids needed a treat.

It included ice cream.

Grandma's love to give grandkids sugar...  😉

These boys enjoyed a few more minutes together.

So did these two.

And well, all of us.  It was so great having Mom around for a few days.
She's one of my favorite people.

We decided to escort them into the train station.

And once we saw the trains...  we ended up staying a while!

There were also free books to look at. (And take home if you so desired!)

But, OH, the trains!!

Yeah, the books.

But the trains!

There was a candy dispenser.

But, trains! ha ha.

Soon it was time to say goodbyes.

There were hugs and kisses all around.

Then we parted ways.

And waved and waved.

We watched until they boarded and their train pulled out of the station.

And we even saw them waving back from their window!

I don't think Owen realized this was goodbye.  He was a little heartbroken when they got on the train and left.

As you'll hear in the video, he was sad.   (He calls Grandma, "Gammy")

Owen watches this video, along others I took of the trains, about 642 times every day.  He waves goodbye to the video every time.  And he whines about Gammy, Lexa, Ethan and Mandy when he plays with his toy train.  He'll be excited to visit them in Wichita soon...  but I think he might be surprised to find out they're not all still on that train!!  ha.
