Just a Goal?

We've been watching garage sales and for sale ads/websites for a used basketball goal.  We hadn't had success in our search though.  Then a neighbor (who didn't know we'd been looking) knocked on our door one day and asked if we'd like a portable basketball goal!  Their kids have all gone to college and they don't use it anymore.  So the next day, Derek walked down the street and together they brought it to it's new home.

Owen watched from the window until it was set up, then he got to go out.  That's when someone handed him a basketball.  He wasn't sure what to do with it yet though.

And Cooper's example trick shots didn't help him understand.

It didn't take long to figure it out though. :)

Daddy provided help with a few trick shots too.

The 'new' goal has been great for another recess activity during the day.

And so far, I'm the only one that has suffered an injury, a jammed finger.
(BUT, let it be known, that I can still beat my boys at 21.  I'm not sure how long I'll be able to keep that up! ha.)

We spruced it up with a new net.

Which called for Daddy challenging the boys to a game.

He's still got it. (He'll be able to beat them for a while yet!)  I hope at least one of these little guys gets their Daddy's athletic ability.  Perhaps combined with my love for the game? :)

It will be a while before Owen can get the ball all the way up there.  Daddy helped him have success and encouraged him to keep trying. Ha.

It's just a basketball goal.  But, it's also a fun reminder that God cares about the little things in our lives.  He enjoys providing for us in ways we don't expect.  For that, we're thankful.
