Because, apparently, we needed one more VBS this summer... :)
My boys attended a Superhero theme VBS at a local church.
Cooper's friend, Zach, was going and let us know about it.
It was a fun theme and decorations. The sanctuary doors were made to look like a telephone booth. Although, seriously, 100% of the kids asked what a phone booth even was! Ha.
After walking through the booth, the hall was covered in black cloth and had black lights and strobe lights.
The second day, my boys wanted to take offering, which was going toward filling Operation Christmas Child boxes. They took their own money and were pretty generous. I later discovered it was a competition between the boys and girls, but was still proud of their giving hearts. :)
And it was even more fun to take their money, because they cashed in bills for pennies! Then the offering is all given in pennies, and the competition decided by weight. One night, when Miles checked in, the church member he signed in with handed him a $20 bill to add to his money, so he got a whole box!
Cooper tried his hardest to participate in the game competition at the end one evening. I arrived just in time to see him gagging on his smoothie made of baby food, oreos, mustard, random veggies etc.
They also had a night that the kids earned extra points if they dressed like a superhero. Miles didn't really appreciate my efforts to make up for my throwing away the broken Ironman mask. He decided to go to VBS sans mask. Hahahahaha.
Owen got in on the dress up preparation.
And actually left the get up on for a while to play.
But enough is enough, it really didn't last too long.
The big boys got pictures taken with the spiderman statue that week too.
And Owen snuck in at least once during a drop off.
He was after the explosives.

One perk of attending multiple VBS programs, is more scripture committed to memory. The catch of attending this VBS, was that all the verses were all King James version, making them a little tricky. Even with the wording being hard for them, they did well, I was proud of them! You can watch them stumble though a little in this video.
The next one, Joshua 1:9, was really a tough one! We'd never heard the word, "Whithersoever" let alone used it in a sentence. Ha. They though it sounded like "witherstorm" from Minecraft, so that helped them remember it.
The memory verses, along with some extra credit questions and verses, earned them individual points, as well as adding to their team totals.
