Riverfront Library Reading

We participated in our public library's summer reading program.  For completing our reading each week, we received tickets to the year end celebration at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. 

There were a lot of hands on and fun things to do.

While the 'big' guys looked around, Owen and I investigated the toddler area.

We looked at creatures, but Owen was confused that he couldn't get them to come out to play.

He was easily distracted by the magnet board though.

And then the water tables!

He made some friends... 

But he was really there for the water.  And the balls.

We did play with Duplo too. 

But were back at the water every few minutes.  One time seeing our big guys on the other side.

Derek took the big boys into the planetarium to "see" the stars.

Then checked out the bugs on the way out.

Owen played with dinosaurs, but really just wanted to go put them in the water. 

So I distracted him yet again with the gadget wall.

Then tied a dragon tail on him and laughed.  :)

It didn't seem to slow him down at all!

Then he started stealing people's shoes while they played in the climbing area...

So we went to find the big guys.

 Derek challenged me to a basketball contest.  He won.  But mostly because I was distracted when my wedding ring fell off my hand and rolled under the netting! It was easily recovered, but that's my excuse. :)

Miles won one of the drawings!  A gift certificate to a local restaurant and passes to the Wheels O Time Museum. 

We did some more hands on exhibits...

Derek actually got deer correct! 

And checked out the space center.

Where the boys because astronauts. 

   By then the party was over and it was past bedtime! What a fun evening!
