Paws for Reading

Our weekly library trip and story time was taken over by dogs a couple weeks ago. :)
Paws for Reading came to visit.
"PAWS for Reading is a program that allows children to read aloud to a therapy dog (or cat, or bunny!) in order to improve reading and communication skills. Children read individually to trained therapy pets (and their handlers) in schools, libraries, or other settings where they can feel comfortable and confident — and have fun! After all, a dog will not correct them or make them feel awkward if they stumble."

My big boys got into right away.  Owen just wanted to touch the dogs.

Actually, I spent the entire half hour following him around the room... quickly.

The dogs were so relaxed and chill.

Owen could have climbed all over them and they might not have noticed.

But he noticed them... especially if they moved around.

He occasionally acted like he was into the book portion of the 'project'.

Even taking a book with him acting like he was doing something he should be doing.

Monkey see, monkey do.  He took this book over to a dog.

Who gave him a BIG kiss as a thank you.

We all enjoyed playing with the dogs... and even reading a little.
