Baseball

After we went to his friend, Zach's, baseball game last fall, Cooper was determined that we sign him up for baseball.  We had all winter to talk about it and make sure he would want to play, so when spring came, we signed him up, payed the money, went to evaluations and Cooper was placed on the Rookie League Cubs team!  He was pretty disappointed he didn't get onto the Royals.  :)

He had a few practices before games started.  They worked on basics, which was great since he hasn't played before.

The morning of his first game brought great excitement!

I caught a picture of him looking for me. :)

But he actually did a good job paying attention to the game.  Derek had helped out at practice, so ended up helping in games, he helped him keep his focus when needed. ha.

Zach and his sister, Emily, came to watch, since Zach played a little later.

After the first game, we had a rain out... after we'd already arrived at the field, of course.  Cooper was pretty bummed.

The very next game was cancelled due to cold weather and wind chills.  Again, bummer.
Finally, they were back on the field!  Cooper has scored several runs, here he is on third base, about to run home.

We all cheer for him, including Owen, shown here 'mid clap'.

Derek has done great helping coach...  at this level there is a lot more to it than baseball, like tying a lot of little baseball shoes.

Miles tries to keep himself focused on the game.

But often has trouble sitting still.

And sometimes getting himself wedged into trees.

We're looking forward to a great season and games through the first of July.

In other related news, if anyone needs cookie dough, Cooper is selling it as a Christian Center Baseball fund raiser.  You can acquire a 2.7lb tub of many yummy varieties of dough for only $17 each.  :)  Just get in touch with me!
