For a Funeral

We left from Wichita and headed to Iowa for G'ma Neva's funeral.  The radar showed that we would hit a band of winter weather that included freezing rain.  We watched the radar on our phones as we traveled... and about 45 minutes before we got there, we hit some snow.

It picked up a little, but we believe God literally clear a path through what should have been ice on the roads.  We never did hit the freezing rain.
(see the deer on the left?!)

We had G'ma's visitation the afternoon we got to Yale.
By the time we left the funeral home that evening, the main roads looked like this!

Having bad roads wasn't convenient...  but the snow was so pretty the next morning!

But we needed to get to a funeral and that meant the 'boys' had to push their Dad's car out of the snow so we could go.

It was a frosty drive to the funeral, then to the dinner afterwords.

Mason and Owen both had naps in their carseats during the dinner.

While my big boys managed to eat lunch and not ruin their dress clothes. :)

There were a lot of people that came, despite the snow, to celebrate and remember G'ma.

We had a private graveside service that was just family.
Then I finally set  my boys free to play in the snow!

They had a great time introducing Owen to snow.

We hung around with family until the next day.
Owen gave Grandpa Don smiles.

Then we all said our goodbyes.

And hit the road back to Wichita to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Leaving the Iowa fields, barns and snow behind.
